McPherson Scientific has produced computer software that is used in thousands of the world's leading scientific laboratories. Other programs developed are used in the surgeries of GPs around Australia as part of clinical audit programs. Whatever its use, the development of custom written software can dramatically facilitate data collection and research output.

3D showcase website goes live
Development of powerful 3D medical animations is one of our core skills. The long awaited 3D website from McPherson Scientific is now up and running and demonstrates the versatility and expertise of one of the most innovative and creative health development sites in Australia. The site showcases talent in the areas of 3D animation, interactive and illustration. Content includes accurate renderings of the human anatomy and surgical procedures across cardiovascular, stroke and drug procedures using the latest Flash and Viewpoint technology.

Deliver on health education
Expertise in medical research and education together with building strong relationships with key medical research scientists and disease specialists around Australia means we understand how to deliver accurate and powerful educational content. Our in-house expertise in information technology, multimedia and graphic design allows us to deliver powerful educational tools. We recently developed the wound assessment tool for the Department of Veterans' Affairs that will be used by thousands of health care providers across Australia.
In addition, our experience with the QA&CPD program of the RACGP means we can deliver accredited content including active learning modules.
Marketing Informatics
McPherson Scientific, in collaboration with the Baker Heart Institute and Merck Sharp and Dohme developed a clinical audit tool (cvTRAC) for use by GP's on their computers. cvTRAC was custom written software tool that collected cardiovascular information on over 60,000 patients around Australia and led to a number of scientific publications as a result. This was QA&CPD accredited project that was highly beneficial to both GP's and their patients.
Technology facilitates data collection
McPherson Scientific has over 20 years of experience in medical and scientific research. Our in-house expertise in scientific discipline, information technology, data collection and statistical analysis means we can make significant contributions to your research efforts. We utilize a number of electronic (web and applications) or paper based (Teleform) technologies to facilitate data collection.
When The Australian Society of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons (ASCTS) wanted to develop a National Cardiac Surgery Database (in collaboration with The Baker Heart Research Institute), McPherson Scientific was chosen to implement their strategy. McPherson Scientific developed the computer program that allowed major Victorian public hospitals to collect the results from individual procedures performed.
About the Director
Dr Grant McPherson trained as a Pharmacist and holds a PhD degree from the University of Melbourne specializing in Cardiovascular Pharmacology. He spent 20 years as a Medical Research Scientist studying both in Australia and also in the UK (including Oxford University) and the USA. In addition Grant has considerable computer programming experience and his software is used in thousand of medical research laboratories around the world. He has also authored over 80 papers that have been published in world-renowned scientific journals. Today Grant is Director of McPherson Scientific where he adds his considerable experience of scientific methodology and IT to the work performed by McPherson Scientific.
